Cyrano de Bergerac and Roxanne

In Cyrano de Bergerac and Roxanne, the characters and the plot are similar, but the others are very different. The setting for Cyrano de Bergerac is in rural France, and for Raxanne suburban America. 

In Cyrano de Bergerac, Cyrano is a famous swordsman in town. In Roxanne, he is a firefighter with strong physical strength .

In both movies, they are  charming, smart, and poetic, only they have a huge nose. The women are friends with him, but not consider to go farther, because of the nose. He is in love with Roxanne, but found out that she is in love with Christian. He wrote letters to her, but have Christian sign the letters. The obstacle between Cyrano and Roxanne is Christian.

The only similar scene in both movies is that at the bar, where one man insulted Cyrano's nose. Cyrano then come up with better insults and make the other man look bad. Then they broke into a fight. In Cyrano de Bergerac, they have a sword fight, but in Roxanne, Cyrano beat him with a few punches. 

Favorite Legend

I favorite legend is the Fenris Wolf. It involves the Gods fighting with the Fenris Wolf, and that the Gods do not know how to chain the Wolf. In most of the legends, the Gods would mostly always find a way on their own to defeat the beasts, or that they just have the power to defeat them. In the Fenris Wolf, the Gods have no ideas of how to chain the Wolf, and have to ask the dwarfs for help. Also, the God who take care of the Wolf when it is young has to sacrifice one of his hands in order to chain the Wolf.

Everyone that has done a good deed to the world, or you personally can be a hero. Parents can be heroes, where they gave birth to you and take care of you. Teachers can be heroes, where they teach you how to read, write and a lot of other things. Scientists can be heroes, where they would do researches to help people understand more about themselves and the world they live in. In books, all the characters that are needed to complete the story can be a hero. Whether it is a small character that do or say something to the main character that changes his or her mind or action. The main character is also a hero, which without him/her, the story would be a mess. Those traits can be very universal, which everyone can do by helping the people that may need your help.

Impression of Animal Farm

The movie uses a bit more scary sounds and music when the scene is tense. When things broke,  it makes really big noise, and most of the time, something tend to happen after the crash.
The greediness in the animals are just as strong as the humans. They have the food, place to live, and a farm, but it seems like that Napoleon wants more.
The animals couldn't speak that well, also that the animal couldn't communicate with the humans. But the animals are still doing some trading with the animals.
The leader of the animal farm is always the pigs, and due to Napoleon's greediness, he treats the other animals badly and kills the "guilty animals".
The pigs are like the government, that they have the power and the goods, and can do just what they want.

There are times where people misled me. They will act really nice to you while planning something evil behind you. There is once that one of my friend is really kind and nice to me, and that led me to think that she is really nice. Later on, because we changes classes, other people and my other friends all said that the girl isn't really nice and stuff. Since we have lesser time to be together, I started to learn more about her and so we broke up.

A lot of things can misled people, like a light can be put up in some weird places that really want you to go, as in a ghost house, or Halloween nights, you might think the light is the exit, but maybe it is the farthest place from the exit.

Bullying

What is bullying? Have you been bullied?

Bullying can be seen in schools, on the street, or any places that have people. Bullying can be in many different forms. It can involve fighting, with bare hands or with weapons, one person or a group of people on one or another group. When accusing something that happen on someone completely innocent, it can also be bullying, so that person need to take care of whatever punishments or things that are caused by the event. In school, or in some offices, there can be people that just do all the work people gave them. When a student tell that student to do the homework for him, it is also bullying. Bullying is like when any person or group of people are against each other and putting burden on them. I don't think that I have been bullied for real. There are times where friends will tell me to do something in a funny mean way, but they are not for real.

Earthquake in Japan - the event happened recently and Japan is really near to Taiwan. A lot of people died and suffered from the earthquake. It is really awful that those innocent people just die without any warnings. It may also create earthquake in Taiwan.

911 Earthquake - This event happened in Taiwan when I am a little kid. I remembered people running out from their houses. But since it is not really a big earthquake at where I live, so we didn't go though things as bad as those who lived in the areas the earthquake occurs.

Because I Could Not Stop for Death

This poem is a darker poem, where Emily Dickinson is talking about the death. In the first stanza, she talked about the death stopping for her because she couldn’t stop for death, and only her with death in the carriage. For the second, the death drove slowly without hashing, and for politeness, the speaker put away all of what she is doing. Then they drove pass the school, fields of grains, and the sun. Next the speaker told about her gown, what she is wearing. They also passed a house that the speaker can barely see the roof. 

Analyzing Poem

When analyzing a poem, first, you have to let the reader know which poem by which poet you are going to analysis, and who the speaker in the poem is. Then, you will briefly tell the reader what the poem is about. You can quote the lines in the poem, telling which line means what. When you quote, you will need to write the line from the poem at the end of your quote. Later on your analysis paper, you should tell the reader the tone, the voice, and diction, the word choice of the poem. The rhyme and rhythm can also be part of the analysis. Also if the author uses any of the personification, simile, or metaphor.

Essay Question

Question: 
In your own words, describe the tone of "Women."  Identify the origins of the tone based on what you can infer about the life experience of the speaker.  How does the speaker communicate her attitude through her words?  Use at least two examples  from the poem to support your response.


Answer: 
The tone in the "Women" is kind of casual but have a really deep loving feeling inside. The speaker talks about what the women did and compare them to armies or generals on how strong the women are. The women have to do nearly all the house works, even hard works around the houses. The speaker looking at her mother's work, knows that the women back then have all the works to do. The speaker is at the desk with the books when the mother told to them to study. The speaker might be studying all the books, but the mother never know any herself, because she is too busy with her works to do so. The speaker's feelings are inside the poem when she describe the works and how strong the women are. Also, the last few sentences, where the speaker said things about how their mother does not know any of the books. It shows that the speaker knows how hard the works are for the women.

Maybe that I don't know if there is anything that I can keep or inherit from my family, and I have never think about that. If there is something that I would like to inherit, I think I would like to have something that has an important memory, or meaning to the thing. When at a critical moment at a sports game, like a basketball game, when the time is almost up and your team only need to make one more goal to win the game. The audiences will all be very tense, as well as the coaches and other teammates. As for the person that has the ball, s/he might feel really nervous, because everyone is counting on her/him. When the time is closer to finish, the audiences stand up and start shouting at both sides of the team. For the might-be winning team, they are shouting for that person to make a good shot. For the other team, they are shouting to block the ball until the time is up. When the ball is shot, people are all looking to see if it got in, all quiet and nervous.

Permanent things can lasts for a longer time, but eventually permanent things are still going to fade away as time goes by. 

Natures are things that can lasts forever, as long as human beings did no destroy them. In the nature, the oceans, lakes, forests, lands and so on are now being destroyed and used by humans. They are still permanent since humans cannot destroy nature in a short time. Also, if nature is gone, then humans are gone too. 

In a human's life, however; something can be permanent too, like the things you own that aren't easily broken, and maybe your feelings for someone or something. Although feelings can be fleeting, which today you like something or someone, tomorrow the feelings are gone. 

In the world around me, my family and my friends are both the permanent things and fleeting things that are important to me.

On Christmas Days, people can see a lot decorations on trees, houses and sometimes the roads where people celebrate Christmas. Little light bulbs and colorful balls, small angels and socks of many different sizes. Presents under the trees waiting to be open up. Smells of many tasty food combined, huge chickens and delicious soap, cute gingerbread man and small cakes. Tastes of all the tasty food. Feelings of all the presents, foods, and trees. On Christmas Day, everyone putting on a smile, giving presents to those whom you cared about. Festive aura all the places. Also white Christmas, where everywhere is covered with snow. Little bit of chilliness in warm clothes or houses.

I see an image of a small white and pink lonely flower alone on an empty field that goes for miles and miles in the morning. There is also a rainbow in the sky, but a sunny day. The flower is wet and water droplets on its petals and leaves. When the wind blow, the flower tilts its head. Never giving in to the rain nor the wind. The field, however; is as far as your eyes can see. The green field all the way. Running, resting and picnicking on the field on a sunny day can feel like you are in heaven.  When sitting beside and looking at the flower, its as though the flower look back to you, and not lonely anymore.

Many symbols are used in books, and/or a secret way to say things between some people. Symbols can be different things, like a drawing, or an object.

In the story, The Cranes, for example has a symbol. The cranes in the story that tells the childhood friendship of the two men is a symbol. The cranes can be a symbol for freedom, where cranes normally want to be free, and that the main character set his friend free.

People may be feeling proud in a lot of ways, like when other people praise you. There can also be a lot of ways of why and how people praise you. They can be praising you because of your personalities, like being smart. It can also be because of your abilities to do something, like performing a hard piece of music within two days. Or, it can be your appearance, handsome or beautiful. When people are praising you, they can praise you by giving you gifts, or words.
Being proud can sometimes be a good thing and other times a bad thing. It is good when you are not too proud, you will still listen to other people's suggestions and you will be more confident with yourself, but when you are too proud of yourself, you are just not going to listen to other people and think whatever you did is write.

Retreat of the "Tiger Mother" & Why Chinese Mother are not Superior

These two articles are saying about how they don't agree to Amy Chua's article. They do agree some of the points, but others, they say those are too extreme. In the article Retreat of the "Tiger Mother" they said that Amy Chua, after getting negative comments on her article, took her daughter, Lulu, and her friends to have a sleepover for her birthday. She mentioned in the article that she only gives advice to mothers of how to treat their children, but didn't say that every child can't do this or that. In the article Why Chinese Mother are not superior, the author, Jean Hsu, talked about which points she agree with Amy Chua, and which she does not. I also agreed to Jean Hsu, because you really shouldn't work your kids to the extreme, or else they will just rebelled like Lulu did.

There may be a lot of times that you will have to choose between something good to you and the other good for someone you cared about. Some of the times it may be secrets of whether to say it or not. When the person you cared about heard the secret, he/she might be sad, scared, or angry because of you. But if you don't say it, then you might feel guilty to not tell him/her. When you choose to say the secret, you might feel a stone dropped in your heart. After you said it; however, you will feel bad and think it will be better if you hadn't say it. Choosing whether to say it or not, it depends on how deep the secret is, sometimes it is okay to say it, while others are not. Sometimes I feel glad that I choose to say it and other times I regret saying them.

Why is Chinese mom more superior?

The article is about a Chinese mom forcing her children to do what is best for them, and how she did it to help the kids success. There are some points that I agree with her, and some others I don't. The parts that the mom take good care of her two kids are really well, but a little bit too tight. The kids doesn't have any freedom to do what they want. Sometimes, it is also good for the kids to have a little freedom and not only control in the little world of their moms. When some children really can't do something, forcing them is not a good idea, but if they have even a little chance, they will be success. Also, insulting your own kids may be a way to motivate them because they don't want to be insult any more so they will improve. But, if use too much of insulting and no praising, it might make the children think that the parents don't like them, and they might just give up. When the child grow up, some might remember the way they are trained, but some just don't. If they didn't or have no motivation without their parents insults, they will think they do great if praised easily.

If I could save one thing from a disaster, I would save my jewelry box. My jewelry box is full of gifts from other people, from friends to family members. It contains necklaces, bracelets, rings and key chains. Also it has the jewelry that I bought for myself when go to different places, like other countries.
